What's Happening in Orange, CA…

Kilts, Queen Mary, and athletes converge near Orange

The historical Queen Mary will be the venue for the 27th Annual ScotsFestival and International Highland Games XXVII. The event will take place a short drive from Orange in Long Beach.

Professional Scottish athletes will compete in the North American Light Weight Women’s Championship. The North American Professional Male Championship will return this year, as well.

Honoring the history and rich culture of Scotland, the competitions are built around the Highlands. Some of the authentic contests include dancing, massed bands, darts and drumming. Other activities include sheepherding, falconry, reenactments, axe throwing and live entertainment. Musical performances take place throughout the weekend on multiple stages featuring local and visiting performers.

Over 50 Scottish clans along with dozens of vendors are expected to attend. Vendors are organizing their spaces for the event and can contact local print shops for assistance. Banner printing creates highly visible signage that will attract potential buyers to the areas.

Whisky tasting sessions along with aged malt will add fun for the adult festival guests. Family fun includes Queen Mary’s coronation along with ceremonies for knighting. Wee Highland games are also planned.

General admission is $25 or $40 for the weekend pass. Children 4-11 are $15. The 27th Annual ScotsFestival will take place February 15 and 16 at The Queen Mary located at 1126 Queens Highway. The event kicks off at 9:00 am.
