The Observatory concert venue in the Orange area is hosting a performance by Portugal. The Man this August.
The performance is part of Portugal. The Man’s current tour, which also includes stops in Oregon, various cities in Washington, Utah and a Southern California stint of shows.
Ever since 2017’s smash hits “Feel It Still” and “Live in the Moment” launched the band from the indie underground to the Top 40 charts, Portugal. The Man has aspired to continue honesty and integrity as guiding musical values, according to guitarist John Gourley.
The tour is in support of their newest album, Shish. With connections to multiple Pacific Northwest cities, including Portland, Portugal. The Man’s genesis started in Alaska. Shish serves as an homage to the band’s home state.
Back in 2018, Portugal. The Man won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. At the time, former bassist Zach Carothers even mentioned Alaska as an inspiration to the group in his acceptance speech.
Originally from Wasilla, Alaska, Portugal. The Man’s new album pays homage to other iconic locations in the state, including Denali and Tanana. Another track, “Mush,” is a nod to the dog-mushers that inspired the band members from an early age.
Concerts like this may choose to use banner printing to create venue marquees and set decorations.
Portugal. The Man is playing on August 30 at 7 pm at The Observatory at 3503 S Harbor Blvd in Santa Ana.
