The Merced County Arts Council will hold a free art class for families in June at the Multicultural Arts Center (MAC).
Kids and Family Day is a program offered by the MAC where families can enjoy being creative together. The project for the class will be making blue morpho butterflies, which are a species of butterfly that can be found in tropical forests of Latin America. The blue morpho is one of the biggest kinds of butterflies in the world. Families do not need to bring any materials to the course, and there is no registration required to take part in the art lesson.
The Merced County Arts Council was formed in 1978 and opened the MAC in 1997. The MAC is home to several organizations, including The Bear Creek Ukulele Society and The Merced Academy of Dance. The facility also runs The Enrichment Center, which is a program for artists who have disabilities. Many exhibits have been held at the MAC, like Year of the Woman, Community Spirit, and the Arbor Gallery’s Big Show.
The family art project will be offered on Sunday, June 25 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. There is no fee to take part in the MAC’s art lesson. Participants must visit the art center by 2:45 pm. Organizations that offer similar activities for families may use poster printing services to share their upcoming projects with the community.
