Dress-up brunch returns to Merced

Merced’s Mainzer Theater is hosting a brunch event where participants are encouraged to dress up and enjoy a screening of the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids this May.

The all-ages and free event is called the No Where To Wear It Brunch, with the idea being for participants to break out dresses and other formal attire, which, while fancy, end up hiding in the closet for most of the year.

Participants are asked to make table reservations in advance. For those 21 and older, there will also be a mimosa tower as part of the event.

With an emphasis on classic outfits, the dress-up brunch encapsulates a bygone era of glamour, reflecting the theater’s own history. The modern Manzier Theater originally opened on March 4, 1920, as a live opera venue. It changed ownership several times, over the years, transforming from its original name, the Merced Theatre, to its modern title, the Mainzer Theater.

A similar event was held back in March with a screening of 27 Dresses, ending with a contest. Dozens of participants showed up, wearing everything from a ballroom gown to a captain’s outfit.

Brunch events like this may choose to use brochure printing to create Menus and audience programs.

The No Where To Wear It Brunch, featuring a screening of Bridesmaids, is happening on May 9 from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Mainzer Theater at 655 W Main St in Merced.
