The Merced Theatre is hosting the musical stage production of Frozen Jr. this March.
Based on the 2013 Disney film Frozen and its subsequent 2018 Broadway musical, Frozen Jr. is a magical tale of two sisters whose bond is tested as they face dangers and tap into their own hidden powers.
The Frozen Jr. show is in the same tradition as past adaptations of Disney musicals, including Aladdin Jr. and The Lion King Jr., specifically designed for middle school students.
At once more condensed than the film, but containing all the same musical numbers plus a few more, the Disney Theatrical Productions edition of Frozen Jr. has flexible and inclusive casting options.
It is based on the longer Broadway musical, Frozen, which ran from 2018 to 2020. The Broadway show was nominated for multiple Tony awards and grossed more than $150 million during its run.
The Broadway show, the “Jr.” edition, and the original Disney film Frozen are all based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale The Snow Queen.
Musicals like this may choose to use Print shops to create audience programs, season schedules or scripts.
Frozen Jr. is playing on March 6th at 7 pm and March 7th at 1 pm and 7 pm. All the shows are happening at the Merced Theatre at 301 W Main St in Merced.
