The Voci Women's Vocal Ensemble is presenting a concert titled “Sacred Baroque,” which will feature Pergolesi’s masterwork, “Stabat Mater.” Also on the program are works by other Baroque composers Porpora, Palestrina, Legrenzi, Hasse, and Archedelt. The ensemble will be accompanied by the Jubilate Baroque Orchestra, which plays instruments from the period. Lisa Sanders and Elysha Massatt are the soloists. The Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and supports music for and by women, from every country and period. The ensemble, which first got together in 1991, numbers between 24 and 26 singers at any time. The small size allows chorus members to connect with each other and with their audiences.
Voci singers share a deep commitment to their community, as well as dedication to music and a deep love of the art. Voci often premieres new music by local composers, as well as presenting music from both the choral repertoire of classics and modern works that are rarely performed.
