Team Business is running a business and entrepreneurship experience for high school students in Lafayette this summer.
The half-day business simulation is designed to teach leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills. Students will also practice teamwork and activities like public speaking and decision-making under pressure that are intended to build confidence. Team Business co-founder Andre van der Bergh will lead the session. Van der Bergh has been named California DECA Businessperson of the Year and has more than 25 years of experience running leadership development programs for executives and students.
Participants will be organized into small groups to complete Team Business’s BOX EXPRESS competition. Each team will be assigned a business problem and will compete to have the most profitable company. This will include exercises like making a business plan, deciding on marketing approaches, determining the cost and value of the product, and analyzing finances.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite now for $99 per teen. The program is open to any high school students in the area, and students do not need any prior business knowledge or experience. Participants need to sign up by August 3. Organizations often use flyer printing services to promote this type of event.
The Team Business Summer 2026 Business Experience will be on Wednesday, August 5 from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Lafayette Library.
