The Contra Costa County Historical Society (CCCHS) is gathering for its annual meeting and celebrating its 75th anniversary this winter.
The Celebrating Two Anniversaries program recognizes both CCCHS’s 75th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the Anza Expedition’s arrival in San Francisco. Californian historian and local history museum curator Beverley Lane will give a presentation on the colonizing Expedition, which brought 240 men, women, and children from different ethnicities to San Francisco to found a mission. The group spent multiple nights camping in what is now Contra Costa County.
Attendees should RSVP on the CCCHS website by next Friday, January 16. As part of the anniversary celebration, the price is $2 per member, which was the cost of a ticket to the inaugural membership meeting in 1951. The price for guests and non-members is $45. The event includes a welcome reception, lunch, and a review of the historical society’s work over the past year. It will end with a raffle drawing and book sale.
The nonprofit CCCHS works to preserve the history of Contra Costa County, which includes Lafayette and neighboring towns, and to keep records available for the public. Nonprofits often use brochure printing services to provide information about their programs.
Celebrating Two Anniversaries will take place on Saturday, January 24, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at Concord Museum & Event Center.
