Lafayette is having its annual education fundraising race this fall.
The Lafayette Res Run for Education includes events for both casual walkers and serious runners. Participants can choose to enter the two-mile fun run and walk or the chip-timed 5K race or 10K race. The 5K course is a flat, faster route, so dogs and strollers are prohibited. Dogs on leashes and strollers are welcome in the other two events.
Registration is open now for $40 for the fun run, $45 for the 5K and $50 for the 10K. Lafayette Chamber members can sponsor the race, and health-related businesses and nonprofits can host a table at the Healthy Lifestyles Fair. The fair will take place at the same time as the run. Vendors often give out Promotional Products at this type of community event.
Proceeds from the race will support Lafayette’s public schools. Last year’s event raised over $37,000. Runners will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt with a design made by Sunflower Hill resident Robby Houghton. Sunflower Hill is a local nonprofit that provides independent supportive housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The group currently has a building in development in Lafayette that will offer 48 apartments and several community spaces for adults with these disabilities.
The Lafayette Res Run for Education will be on Sunday, October 18, in downtown Lafayette and around the Lafayette Reservoir.
