Four new Eagle Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 243 of Lafayette were recently honored at the Lafayette Christian Church at a Court of Honor ceremony.
The four young gentlemen were Connor Ogro, Jack Carey, Cameron Atwood, and Kevin Mone.
Becoming an Eagle Scout means reaching the highest rank in the Boy Scout program. There are 21 merit badges that need to be earned and each needs to plan, organize, lead, and carry out an extensive service project.
To recognize the accomplishments of becoming an Eagle Scout, each is presented with a medal and a badge.
Ogro received funds from Generations in Jazz and for his Eagle project. He built five large units of shelves so that amplifiers, keyboards, and drum sets that belong to the Lafayette Summer Music Jazz Workshop can be safely stored and protected.
Carey’s Eagle project was designing and building a walkway and pouring a concrete slab to connect existing walkways behind Careyson Hall in Lafayette over a drainage ditch.
Atwood’s Eagle project involved creating 13 intricate wooden trusses for an arbor in Orinda.
Mone’s Eagle project was designing and building bookshelves at John F. Kennedy University for the veteran’s library to hold Books available free of charge for veterans to check out.
The Boy Scout Troop might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to advertise the achievements of these young men by means of Posters and Banners.
