Lafayette is putting on its 2nd annual Community Day this June.
The Community Foundation of Lafayette, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Lafayette are coming together to host this celebration of the town’s 175th anniversary and day of volunteering.
The event will start at 8:30 am in Plaza Park. There will be a rally, and breakfast will be served. Then, participants will go to their different volunteer activities. Participants can then gather in the park again at noon for lunch and entertainment to celebrate Lafayette’s anniversary.
Those interested in volunteering can check the Lafayette Community Day website for updates on how to sign up. Volunteer opportunities will be available in several categories including education, town beautification, arts, diversity, and senior services. Free parking will be available throughout the event at the municipal lots located off Golden Gate Parkway.
Local non-profits will host the different volunteer opportunities. Those thinking about attending can find the list of last year’s participating organizations on the event website. These include the Lamorinda Arts Council, the Assistance League, and Lafayette Partners in Education. Local businesses are also invited to sponsor the event. Sponsoring businesses often give out Promotional Products at this type of community event.
Lafayette Community Day will take place on Saturday, June 3, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm at Lafayette Plaza Park.
