Lafayette is hosting its annual Res Run for Education this October.
The event raises funds for Lafayette’s schools and is popular with both families and serious runners. Race day includes three events. The two-mile fun run and walk is untimed, and dogs on leashes and children in strollers are welcome.
The 5k and 10k races are chip timed and certified by the Road Running Technical Council. The 5k course is flat and is limited to runners only, while the 10k course is rather hilly but is open to dogs and strollers. In addition to the in-person events, the Reservoir Challenge is a virtual race option. This is a 2.7-mile loop around the reservoir and is available from October 13 to 22.
Registration for both the virtual and in-person events is now open through the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce website. The cost is $25 for the Reservoir Challenge and two-mile fun run, and $30 for the longer races. The race packet includes a long-sleeved T-shirt and the race bib, which participants can pick up ahead of time. Organizations often work with local Print shops to design race bibs. Participants should be aware that parking meters will be operating during the race. Free parking will be available at the BART parking lots.
The Res Run will take place on Sunday, October 23 starting at 8:00 am.
