What's Happening in Lafayette, CA…

Hollie’s Homegrown, a local business in Lafayette, is hosting a holiday-themed crafting class this November.

Participants will make a holiday or winter wonderland-inspired miniature paper house. The houses will be sized to sit on a mantle or windowsill as a seasonal decoration.

Orinda-based artist Jackie Smith will lead the class. She specializes in creating these decorative paper houses for different themes and seasons, ranging from summer cottages to winter cabins. She owns A Cottage in the Forest, which sells houses she has made, house-making kits, and patterns for making houses out of recycled materials.

The class fee is $35 per person, which includes all the supplies participants will need. Those who have any favorite papers or other materials are encouraged to bring them as well. The class is open to adults and children ages six and older. Children younger than 12 need to attend with an adult. Local shops often use poster printing services to advertise their seasonal events.

Hollie’s Homegrown grows and sources herbs to make seasonings, food, and bath products. The shop also offers retail space for local artists from a diverse range of backgrounds and hosts classes and events for the public throughout the year.

The miniature house class will take place on Tuesday, November 7 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hollie’s Homegrown in Lafayette.
