Runners and walkers of all walks of life are invited to don their running shoes and join an annual Lafayette event that raises important funding for local schools.
The Lafayette Res Run for Education is a family-friendly day that includes a 5k and 10k run, and a 2-mile course that can be walked.
The 5k and 10k races are officially certified by Road Running Technical Council USA Track & Field.
Pets and baby strollers are not allowed on the 5k run; however, they are more than welcome on the 10k and 2 mile courses. Groups are also encouraged to participate.
Last year’s race raised more than $10,000. That combined with $18,000 raised from its annual Art and Wine Festival and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce was able to donate more than $28,000 to local elementary, middle and high schools.

The Stanley Middle School Orchestra will be providing live music for the finishing party. The event also includes a Healthy Lifestyles Fair with games, treats and information from local vendors selling health-related products and services.
The Lafayette Res Run for Education is scheduled to take place Sunday, 25 October. The start location is Mt. Diablo Blvd. at Oak Hill Rd. in downtown Lafayette. The 5k certified run will start at 8 a.m., the 10k will begin at 8:15 a.m. and the 2-mile run/walk will start at 8:45 a.m.
