Lafayette library to host 3D design class for teens

The Lafayette library is offering a series of three 3D modeling classes for teens this summer.

Participants will develop their art, technology and robotics skills while designing a pen holder, model house or custom mug, depending on the workshop session they attend. Arav of Innov8 Design will lead the workshops. The class is open to students who will be entering 6th through 10th grades in the upcoming school year. Those interested can sign up on the library’s website. Space is limited. Libraries often use flyer printing services to promote their special events.

Since the classes are intermediate level, participants should already be familiar with Tinkercad, the web app they will be using during the session. Tinkercad is a free tool that helps users code and create 3D design projects. Participants are also welcome to sign up for the library’s 3D Printing Studio classes to practice their modeling skills. These sessions are open studio time with staff available to answer questions and provide support. They take place every other Thursday. Registration is available online. Participants can submit their completed designs to the library’s 3D printer.

The Intermediate 3D Modeling Workshop series will take place on Tuesday, July 30, Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the Tech Lab at Lafayette library.
