Act II Improv is putting on an Improv for Good fundraiser show for Mobility Matters this winter.
The first portion of the show will be a collection of what the performers call “games,” which are short scenes based on audience comments and suggestions. The second half will include longer scenes that include some drama along with the comedy. Tickets are available on the Campbell Theater’s website for $15 per person. Theaters often work with Print shops to create programs for their shows.
Act II Improv was founded by actors who wanted to give back to the community. The group partners with local nonprofits to support with its shows. It is part of Spontaneous Minds Productions, which also runs improv classes for all experience levels, corporate training workshop on how to use improv to improve communication skills, and another performance series that combines improv with detective stories.
Proceeds from the show will support Mobility Matters, a nonprofit that provides transportation services for eligible seniors and veterans. Its mission is to help those who do not have other transportation options to get to medical appointments and take other essential trips. The organization works across Contra Costa County, including in Lafayette and other towns.
The Act II Improve Comedy Show will take place on Saturday, February 1 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at the Martinez Campbell Theater.
