Drunken Botanist creator stopping in Lafayette

For those Lafayette residents who have always wanted a way of joining their passion for gardening with their love of libations, you now have a champion. Amy Stewart, author of the best-selling book ‘Wicked Bugs, Wicked Plants’ is promoting her latest book, ‘The Drunken Botanist: The Plants That Create the World's Great Drinks’ at the Lafayette Library this week.

Stewart blends science, history, and mixology to explain the mating of botany with booze and the creative lengths humans have gone to in their efforts to create alcohol. Included in her talk will be the numerous herbs, trees, flowers, fruits, and fungi that have been used to create intoxicating spirits.

At the conclusion of the hour-long program, a complimentary cocktail reception – courtesy of Hendrick’s Gin – will be held, during which Stewart will be available to sign Copies of her book. Attendance is limited to those 21 years and over.

Libraries are a font of information as well as an abundant source of activities. Flyer printing services, which also supply Brochures, are kept busy by libraries – and the Lafayette Library is in all likelihood no exception.

The event takes place June 19th, with check-in at 6pm and the program lasting from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The cost is $15 for Commonwealth Club members and $25 for non-members, and will take place at the Lafayette Library at 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.
