The Alameda County Library will be offering a legal support program this January that is partly sponsored by the Alameda County Bar Association.
This program, known as Lawyers in the Library, will allow its participants (including all residents of Alameda County such as those in Fremont) to ask legal questions to volunteer lawyers through a 15-minute one-on-one phone appointment. Participants will not be charged for this session.
The Lawyers in the Library program is also partly sponsored by Legal Access Alameda, which is a pro-bono part of the Alameda County Bar Association. The organization is committed to providing free legal assistance to residents in Alameda County who are in low-income situations, and believes that income should not keep individuals from getting the legal help they need. The organization holds over 30 legal clinics each month with its volunteer law-school graduates, attorneys, and paralegals providing professional advice.
One of the upcoming dates and times for this program will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. If it is requested at least seven days before the appointment, interpretation or captioning can be provided to participants. Appointments can be scheduled via the Alameda County Library website under the Logo Design. Only one appointment can be made a month per person or family, due to limited resources.
