Cameras are allowed at this event, in which participants are encouraged to dress in cosplay as their favorite fictional characters for a “dress to impress” contest.
Ohana Comic Con, also known as Turlock Comic Con, regularly hosts anime conventions throughout California, including recent stops in Hanford and Castro Valley.
Occasional celebrity guests have also been known to make appearances, such as John Morris, the voice of Andy in Toy Story, doing a meet-and-greet at a recent Ohana Comic Con event in Farfield.
In terms of the Fremont convention, it takes place at the Elks Lodge, a men’s and women’s organization that hosts a variety of other events in the community, including karaoke, trivia, a ladies' social club, steak cooking nights, bingo, cornhole and chili cook-offs.
Conventions like this may choose to use Print shops to create photo prints for autograph signings, labels for vendors and event schedules.
The Fremont Ohana Toy and Anime Comic Con is happening on March 1 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Elks Lodge at 38991 Farwell Dr in Fremont. The all-ages cosplay contest is at 2: 30 pm, with sign-ups happening in advance at the admissions table.
