Multiple events are being held for plant and gardening enthusiasts at the Fremont Library this August.
On August 1, in the Fukuya Room B, a class is being held called Talkin’ Dirt! Container Gardening from 11 a.m. to noon. The class is aimed at participants who wish to garden but have no space. The workshop will teach people everything they need to know to begin a container garden, as well as upkeep.
The class is part of a series of workshops from a local non-profit organization called Local Ecology and Agriculture Fremont or LEAF. Formed in 2008 by a group of local residents, the organization’s goal is to help people get in touch with the natural world and build community.
Also on August 1, from noon to 2 p.m., in the Fukaya Room B of the Fremont Library, a Plant and Cutting Swap event will be held. This event is designed for gardeners in the community to come together, with all sorts of different plants, for a swap and meet. People are encouraged to bring tubers, houseplant cuttings, bulbs, succulents, starter seed kits and duplicate plants. It’s part of the Alameda County Library system’s larger Sustainability and Resilience program.
Gardening events like these may choose to use Stationery printing to create crop labels, seed packets and plant Signs.
Each of these plant events are being held at the Fremont Library at 2400 Stevenson Blvd.
