World music specialist coming to Escondido

An artist equally at home in jazz, flamenco, and classical music is on the way to Escondido.

Canadian guitarist Jesse Cook has won a Juno Award and has also won the Canadian Smooth Jazz award as Guitarist of the Year three times. His worldwide record sales total more than 1.5 million Copies.

Cook was born in Paris to Canadian parents John and Heather Cook, who raised him in Toronto. He studied music at the Eli Kassner Guitar Academy, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto; the New York University; and Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Seemingly ignorant of his skill as a guitarist, he spent much of his time composing.

However, a cable television station played his music as background to their channel guide, generating such interest from the public that he released his debut album, “Tempest,” literally in response to their demand. It debuted on the Billboard New Age chart at No. 14 in 1995. He has now released 13 studio albums and four video albums. His most recent studio album, “Love in the Time of COVID”, dropped in 2023.

A performance review says:
"Jesse Cook was fabulously entertaining and his music is often quite creative, using classic instruments in unusual ways . . . and introducing . . . ancient musical instruments . . .”

Jesse Cook will be at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido on January 22. When they plan concerts like this, organizers frequently use poster printing to advertise them.
