Local venue 413 Repertory Theater will stage a dinner-theater adaptation of The Importance of Being Earnest at The Grand Tea Room this March.
Penned by Oscar Wilde in 1895, the comedy follows Jack and Algernon as they navigate fabricated identities, romantic complications, and social expectations. The play is one of the most readily cited examples of farce.
Presented in an intimate dining room, the staging places actors close to guests as scenes unfold between courses. Organizers describe the format as interactive, with service timed alongside the performance.
All ticket tiers include a full high-tea meal featuring unlimited tea, assorted finger sandwiches, a seasonal savory dish, salad, a scone served with lemon curd, cream, and jam, and a selection of desserts. Guests may select traditional, vegetarian, or gluten-free options. Seafood is not used in any menu variation. Changes to meal selections cannot be accommodated on the day of attendance.
General admission is priced at $95. Deluxe admission costs $125 and includes premium seating, where available, and a themed gift set for each attendee. A $30 cocktail packet may be added for unlimited signature drinks or champagne during the show. An exclusive Producer’s Table option offers private gazebo seating, gift packets, unlimited cocktails, and bottle service for up to eight guests, with pricing available upon request.
Brochure printing is often used to provide guests of events such as this one with menu options.
Performances run from March 6 through 22 at The Grand Tea Room, 145 W Grand Ave, Escondido. Attendees can visit the event listing for performance times on each date.
