Escondido marks 20th chapter with Stephen Graham Jones

KPBS Public Media will celebrate the 20th year of One Book, One San Diego with an author event in Escondido this November.

The event will feature bestselling writer Stephen Graham Jones.

Jones is the author of The Buffalo Hunter Hunter, selected as the program’s 2026 adult title. The historical horror novel follows a Blackfeet man named Good Stab, whose life story is revealed through interviews recorded in a diary discovered years later. The story explores violence, history and revenge while drawing on events affecting the Blackfeet community.

The evening will begin with an author conversation and audience question-and-answer session. A book signing will follow from 7:30 to 8 pm and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis as time allows.

Copies of The Buffalo Hunter Hunter will be available for purchase from the Library Shop, with proceeds supporting the San Diego Public Library system. Readers may also borrow the book through participating public library systems.

Jones is also known for Books including The Only Good Indians, I Was a Teenage Slasher and, My Heart Is a Chainsaw. He is a professor of English at the University of Colorado Boulder and has received several literary honors.

General admission is free, with advance registration available through Eventbrite. Organizers of literary programs often use banner printing to promote featured authors and their books.

The One Book, One San Diego author event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th, from 6:30 to 8 pm at The Grand Ritz Theater, 301 East Grand Ave, Escondido, California. Doors open at 6 pm.
