A guitarist critics say is in a class by herself is coming to Escondido.
Rolling Stone is the magazine that said Kaki King is a “genre unto herself,” a title she has earned with ingenuity and hard work. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, she was introduced to the guitar when she was four by her father. She played guitar for several years, but then turned to the drums, thinking percussion might be a better way into a music career.
While she was in high school, King played in various bands along with her classmate, Morgan Jahnig. Jahnig later went on to join the Old Crow Medicine Show as their bassist. King and Jahnig both moved to attend New York University, where King began playing guitar again, gigging around the city and busking in the subway. From that beginning, she has built a career that has taken her across the globe, sharing the stage with artists like Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, and adding to film scores. She has appeared at prestigious venues such as the London Jazz Festival.
Also on the bill is The String Revolution, a Grammy winning trio of guitarists. They are known for breaking traditional boundaries, mixing different styles and genres to create a unique sound.
King and The String Revolution will be at the California Center for the Arts on Thursday, October 9. Events like this are often advertised with Posters, which organizers can find at Print shops.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Posters
