Maynard James Keenan formed the rock group Puscifer in Los Angeles. Keenan, who was the band’s sole permanent member, was already building a career as the lead singer of other local bands. Since he had no others in the group on a permanent basis, he thought of the band as his “creative subconscious.” He did have two artists who collaborated with him, Carina Round and Mat Mitchell, who finally joined permanently.
Keenan also said he considered the band a playground for the voices he hears in his head:
“. . . where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes."
Keenan’s attitude, plus the fact the band works in several genres including alternative rock and experimental rock, may explain why they also produce clothing for sale in limited amounts. They have released four studio albums, five remix albums, four live albums, three EPs, and released 11 singles from the various albums. Their music has been used in both film and television productions including “Saw II” and “Warehouse 13.”
A review says:
“Maynard James Keenan’s art-music collective channels and parodies modern angst in explosive performance.”
Puscifer will appear at the Concert Hall at California Center for The Arts Escondido on October 18 at 8:00 pm. Audience members at this type of event would no doubt enjoy having a souvenir of the evening, so organizers often use brochure printing to create programs.
