Day of Celtic fun planned in Escondido

Music, dancing, and food are all planned for a special day in Escondido.

Highland Way is a six-piece band that performs “Scirish” (Scottish and Irish) music, using fiddle, percussion, bass, according, guitar, all served with a dash of humor. The group is led by Brian Caldwell, who is originally from Glasgow but now calls Escondido home. The band sings of work, play, love, conflict, and friends gathering together.

The group comprises percussionist Bob Sale, bassist Glen Fisher, Jim Soldi on bass, guitar, and vocals, Sharon Whyte on keyboards, accordion, and vocals, and Paul Graham Castellanos handling anything with strings. Audiences can expect to hear reels, jigs, and folk melodies, along with the band’s witty banter.

Highland Way will be joined by the dancers from the Rose Academy of Irish Dance. The performers will wear gorgeous traditional Irish clothing and bring the energy of Irish dance to enhance the performance.

Anyone who wants to make a night of it will be delighted to hear that the band and O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub have partnered for the night. The pub has won the title of “Best Irish Pub” in San Diego County five times. Highland Way ticket holders may use their stubs to gain admission to the pub’s celebration.

The show is set for March 17 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Colorful events like this are often advertised with Posters, which organizers can find at Print shops.
