Escondido area art lovers are invited to take in a new exhibit that has just opened at the California Center for the Arts.
The showing opened on March 22 and features a variety of ‘plein-air’ paintings that show the varied landscape of the state. Entitled ‘Art in Nature: Legacy of the Land’, there are more than 100 works on display for the public to view.
Many of the pieces have been created by 20 members of the Plein-Air Painters of America, while others were painted by art students and better known historic artists. Almost half of them are works by realist painters that show what the state was like before World War II. Many of these are housed in private collections and have not been available for viewing before.
The museum has an area dedicated to student art, which features paintings by high school students in the Escondido School District. A printing company can produce promotional materials that let the public know about the exhibit.
Those interested in purchasing a work of art are able to choose from the 100 being offered up for sale. The whole show has been arranged and set up by the Art in Nature Alliance, which is a partnership of Escondido, Plein-Air Painters of America, the California Center for the Arts, and San Dieguito River Valley Commission.
