National kitchen award earned by Tucson design firm

The National Kitchen and Bath Association recently gave the Best Kitchen Award of 2016 to Lori Carroll & Associates, based in Tucson, for a kitchen created for

homeowners Barbara Goldberg and her husband.

According to Lori Carroll, who worked on the project with her co-designer Debra Gelety, there were numerous collaborators on this project, including electricians, granite installers, and cabinet makers.

Goldberg added that the experience of building the entire house was outstanding as there was a great architect and equally good designer, an exceptional landscape architect, and a reliable general contractor. It was certainly a team effort.

Kitchen designs are rated based on quality, aesthetics, functionality, and innovation, among other factors by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. This kitchen was distinctive by several elements.

Two different materials - ice-age granite and Tortuga quartzite - make up the countertops and the granite is used for the backsplash and in connecting the kitchen to the dining room. Carroll said that the clients were looking for warmth along with a clean, contemporary design, so afromosia, a wood with exotic qualities, was used to envelope the kitchen.

The kitchen is also extremely functional, Carroll added, and not just for show, enabling Goldberg to use every inch of her kitchen.

Carroll might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to advertise her firm’s award by use of Flyers and other printed materials.
