A great way for locals to enjoy Independence Day will be to attend the Kiwanis Club of Tempe’s 61st Annual July 4th Lake Festival.
A fireworks display, accompanied by classical and patriotic music, will again originate from the Mill Avenue Bridge over Temple Town Lake. Proceeds go to Kiwanis Club of Tempe Children’s Charities.
Wells Fargo is sponsoring the main stage entertainment. Some performers scheduled include Don’t Tell Mon Band and Levi Waskom. Another band, called Outside the Line, will perform both before and after the firework display.
Other activities will include the Family Fun Fest, The VIP Garden and water games, and fun at the Splash Playground.
The food court will have booths that will be selling all those traditional summertime goodies and beverages. Some treats will be snow cones, fry bread, ice cream, lemonade, hot dogs, and hamburgers.
Auditions for the Star Spangled Banner Idol Competition will be held at Dave and Buster’s Tempe Marketplace, June 21st. Each contestant will be singing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’, but the grand prize will be singing the National Anthem before approximately 35,000 attendees at the Tempe Town Lake Festival. This could be an exciting photo op for future postcard printing for some lucky winner.
Gates at the event are set to open up at 5pm, and are scheduled to close at 11pm.
