The fourth annual Dementia Friendly Tempe Summit will be held later this month in Tempe.
As part of Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell’s initiative in 2016 of Dementia Friendly Tempe to make the city more livable for people with dementia and those who care for them, the Edward Jones Training Facility will be hosting the summit. Conferences such as this one can benefit from brochure printing services to provide more information about such diseases and their impact in family and friends.
Executive director of the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, Eric M. Reiman, MD, will be one of the presenters at the summit and discuss the progress that has been made in fighting Alzheimer’s disease and the work that is being done on find therapies and treatments to prevent the disease.
Another presenter, assistant research professor at the Arizona State University Banner Neurodegenerative Research Center, Diego Mastroeni, PhD, will talk about the work being done at his facility and discuss studies on other neurological conditions related to age, such as Parkinson’s disease.
The mayor of Tempe, Mark Mitchell, who is caring for his mother who has Alzheimer’s, will discuss what is being done in the city and the community to undertake more dementia friendly programs. He said that since the program was started more than 3,000 new Dementia Friends have been trained and the city is looking to train all its employees.
The summit will take place on Saturday March 16 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
