Tempe looks to new development south of lake

A new major development is in the works on the south side of Tempe Town Lake.

This development would be in East Vista Del Lago Drive, which is north of what was once the Karsten Golf Course. At a cost of $1.8bn, the project will include 111,000 square feet of retail space, 520 hotel rooms, 2,300 apartments for rent and 160 condominium units for sale, 600,000 square feet of class A office space, and a green area in the heart of the project for pedestrians.

Professional banner printing is often used at such sites so that residents will stay informed of any developments taking place in town.

The project will be built in seven phases over 15 years on 12.43 acres of land. It is next to the Pier 202 development in an area where there has been no activity for many years. The developer for the project is an entity of McBride-Cohen Management Group, South Pier Tempe Holdings LL. South Pier plans to construct the project in whatever remaining vacant land is left in that area.

South Pier Tempe Holdings is expected to present the project to the Tempe Town Council later this month. The Tempe City Council had previously agreed to a retail development tax incentive with the developer at one of its earlier meetings.
