Tempe looking for new brand to showcase itself to the world

Tempe city council has decided that it is time to revamp the community’s brand, and has begun the process of doing so.

The council recently gave its approval for a measure to find a marketing company that will develop a new brand for Tempe. The successful candidate at the end of the search will be awarded a contract to do so.

The city’s public information officer Nikki Ripley pointed out that the seeds for the decisions to update the branding were planted some time ago by several councilors who regularly surfed the web and felt it would improve its social media presence.

According to Ripley, the city council is looking for something that can be used across a variety of media and that will appeal to a wide audience. They would like something that can draw in visitors, new business and residents, students, commuters, and also people who currently reside in the local area. It can be included in all the Promotional Products that will be used to market the area locally, nationally, and even globally.

Stakeholders were brought in to give their input into the process. One of these was Dan Dillion, who has many years of experience in the field. He made the case that branding a city can be very important, and it is not a completely different situation from doing so for a product or service.
