Tempe will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Tempe Tardeada this month.
This Hispanic festival will feature traditional singing, dancing, and mariachis. Additional activities will include demonstrations of making tortillas, where guests can try to roll their own then eat them after they are cooked. Activities for children will include arts and crafts, the Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Toss, a game truck, the Phoenix Suns inflatable basketball hoop, and face painting.
The Family Albums exhibition at the Tempe History Museum will feature information about the Hispanic heritage of Tempe. There will also be food trucks in the Tardeada food court with items for purchase from such local eateries as Jamba Juice, Tacos al Pastor, Paletas Betty, and Sweet Magnolia.
There will also be entertainment that featuring the Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, Marty and The Party, and the Qué Candela Dance Company. Two high school seniors will be presented with a Tardeada scholarship of $1,000 each.
Tempe Tardeada is the main celebration of the city taking place during Hispanic Heritage Month, which has been running from September 15, and will last until Sunday, October 15. Flyer printing is often used as one way to promote such special events throughout a city and surrounding communities.
Tempe Tardeada will be held at the Tempe Community Complex on S. Rural Road on Sunday October 8 from noon to 8:00pm.
