The Clinical Psychology Center in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe will be offering its online camp for the summer starting this month.
The Skills Program Inspiring and Reinforcing Excellence, also known as Camp ASPIRE, will offer evidence-based approaches, interactive games, and fun activities to teach kids social, coping, and life skills. Brochure printing is often used by such programs to provide more details to parents about their benefits for them and their children.
Clinical psychology doctoral students will deliver the program. Rising third through fifth grade and sixth through eighth grade, students will be able to attend the program. Research carried out by the Courage Lab of Associate Professor Armando Pina is the basis for the program for the younger students while the Bridges Program of Provost Nancy Gonzales is the basis for the program for the older students. Director of clinical training and associate clinical professor, Matthew Meier, expressed his excitement about being able to offer this program this summer.
The program will run for two weeks at a time with online meetings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The dates are Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 17; Monday, June 20 through Friday, July 1; and Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 22. The times are from 10:00 am to noon or from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The cost is $100 per student.
