The Tempe Public Library is hosting a free screening of the 2015 heist comedy film Masterminds.
The event will include free popcorn and is part of the Tempe Public Library’s Summer of Cinema monthly series.
Masterminds is rated PG-13 for some adult-oriented humor and some violence. The film is based on the Loomis Fargo bank robbery of 1997 Charlotte, North Carolina, where $17.3m was stolen. The movie’s screenplay – by Emily Spivey, Chris Bowman, and Hubbel Palmer – was based in part on an article in the Charlotte Observer written by Jeff Diamant.
The movie stars Zach Galifianakis as David Fhatt, a driver for an armored vehicle responsible for transporting millions of dollars, day in and day out. Then, when Owen Wilson’s Steve Chambers leads a group of low-IQ criminals, David joins them in the scheme, making a seemingly clean getaway. However, it becomes a game of everyone out for themselves, and David must dodge the likes of suspicious police, other criminals, and a colorful hitman, Jason Sudeikis’ Mike McKinney.
Film screenings like this may choose to use flyer and brochure printing for audience programs, informational pamphlets, or season schedules.
Masterminds is playing on Saturday, August 2 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Desert Willow Program Room at the Tempe Public Library at 3500 South Rural Rd in Tempe.
