Arizona State University proudly invites all Tempe locals who love Broadway, Irish music, and a good love story to a rendition of ONCE; a winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical of 2012.
A draw of this unique play is not only the storyline and live action, but the fact that the performers all play their own instruments on stage.
The story is centered around Dublin street musicians, and one in particular who has begun to give up on his dream of composing meaningful songs. For the time being, he sings haunting love songs that entrance a young woman. As the story unfolds, their ensuing romance grows deeper and more emotionally charged as the musician’s musical prowess grows.
One reviewer on the musical’s website noted that the audience not only stood to applaud at the end of the show, but “lunged to their feet”. Promoters may want to have flyer printer done to get the word out about the event.
A PG13 rating will make this an older-family night event. The two hour-and-fifteen-minute performances will run April 29 at 8:00 pm, April 30 through May 2nd at 7:30 pm, and May 3 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The last show will be May 4, with performances at 1:00 pm and 6:30 pm. All will be held at Arizona State University Gammage, 1200 S. Forest Ave, Tempe.
