A new concept called PickleMall will be coming to the Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe.
West Shaw, CEO of PickleMall, started looking for his first location and found that Arizona was an ideal spot for the new concept.
PickleMall will be in over 100,000 square feet of space at the mall in what once was home to the At Home store and has been vacant for many years. There will be 24 state-of-the-art pickleball courts. Shaw said in a statement that his goal is not only to be a venue, but to be a tool that will improve the skill of the players. Banner printing is often used at such sites to announce the opening of such venues.
Most of the courts will have cameras so that players can record a clip of their play. Shaw said these clips can be sent to a player’s phone so people can watch what they did and learn from their successes and failures.
Shaw added that as pickleball can be noisy, sound-dampening measures will be taken to make sure that nearby tenants of the mall and others passing by are not bothered by the noise, and those who are paying will not have any disruptions to their experience. The cost will be between $5 and $10 a person per hour to play on the courts.
Work on PickleMall is expected to begin this month, with a scheduled opening in mid-July.
