Musical running event celebrates 20th anniversary in Tempe

A two-day event that combines marathon running, music, and tourism is returning to Tempe in 2025.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona event is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Over both days, it will feature a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and KiDS Rock course.

Along the route, which encompasses three cities, live music and local cheerleading squads will greet the runners roughly every mile.

The races all start in and around downtown Tempe. The half marathon starts on Mill Avenue near 3rd Street and ends at Tempe Beach Park. The 10K starts at University Drive near College Avenue and ends on Rio Salado Parkway near Ash Street. The 5K starts at Mill Avenue near Rio Salado Parkway and ends on Rio Salado Parkway and Ash Street.

Organizers tout the event as a tourism attraction since the courses take runners through Tempe, Scottsdale, Phoenix, and nature destinations. The red sandstone formations of Papago Park lead into the finish line, with a festival taking place thereafter at Tempe Beach Park.

Depending on what days and individual events participants sign up for, prices can vary. There are also premium packages designed to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. At last year’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona event, 20,000 runners participated.

Racing events like this may need banner printing to clearly mark the start and finish lines, and flyer printing to advertise.

The 2025 Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona races are happening on January 18 and 19.
