Insurance company in Tempe looks to increase workforce

State Farm, an insurance company with headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, will be hiring for its office in Tempe.

The company is planning to hire 1,000 people to work in hybrid mode. They will spend 20 percent of their time in the office and the remaining 80 percent of their time working from home. The office is at Marina Heights in the Tempe hub.

The positions at the Tempe office are primarily entry-level ones in the claims department but there are additional openings in customer service, sales, and underwriting. Such positions often require business card printing services that can help promote the company. The pay for most positions starts at $18 an hour and includes benefits.

The Tempe operation of State Farm is in an office complex of five buildings that spans 2.1 million square feet on the Salt River. Sunbelt Holdings and Ryan Cob developed the office complex. The insurance company occupies over 1.6 million square feet in four of the five buildings and subleases the fifth building to Carvana, which is also based in Tempe.

State Farm is one of the largest employers in the state of Arizona with close to 6,600 people working in the Marina heights office. It plans to hire 3,000 people across the country for both part-time and full-time positions in the next year.
