A Maine Coon cat form Tempe was recently saved form from a car engine in which he had been trying to stay warm.

The cat, which had taken refuge inside the vehicle from the cold, was discovered by the driver who had heard its cries when he started the car. He immediately turned it off and called for help.

A team of Emergency Animal Medical Technicians was dispatched to the scene, where they found the feline hiding behind the engine. They were able to rescue him from his predicament, and he was taken for veterinary care. He received treatment for burns and some wounds, but is reported to be doing well is expected to fully recover from his ordeal.

The cat, now named Vee Dub, will be made available for adoption through the Arizona Humane Society (AHS), which is asking people to make sure that they give a sharp tap to the hood of their vehicles before they start them up in the morning. This will warn any animals who may have taken refuge under it that it is time for them to move on. A postcard printing company can produce cards that can be mailed out to the public to further remind them to do this.

The AHS is currently accepting calls at 602-997-7585 from anyone who would be interested in giving Vee Dub a loving home. The society will then let callers know when he is ready to be adopted.
