Electronic company relocates headquarters in Tempe

Benchmark Electronics recently opened its new headquarters in Tempe, after 40 years of having its operations centered in Texas, about 30 miles south of Houston. Most of the leadership team worked remotely and when Paul Tufano became the new CEO and president, he decided he decided he wanted all his team in one location to be more efficient and have better communications.

The CTO of Benchmark, Jan Janick, added that the company looked at several locations and decided on the Tempe area. Arizona State University (ASU) provides the technical expertise which the company needs to grow and had reached out to Benchmark early in its search process, expressing a willingness to work with corporate America.

It was thought the ASU would just provide Benchmark with students with the requisite technical skills, but the company soon learned that ASU and the company could work together on many engineering programs and help with technical challenges that are encountered.

Governor Doug Ducey said that the company will bring 500 new jobs to the area, so that business card printing services may also be needed as a result of such new headquarters. Ducky expressed his pleasure in Benchmark’s decision to move to Arizona, as the state offers many benefits, including a world-class international airport, educational opportunities, and a growing and strong defense and aerospace industry.
