Wicked, the Broadway musical, is coming to the Arizona State University Gammage arts venue in Tempe.
The story is a prequel to the original Wizard of Oz tale, based on a novel of the same name. Told from the perspective of the Wicked Witch of the West, it paints the character as something of a misunderstood figure, made to be an outcast due to her unusual green skin.
In 2024, Wicked was also turned into a major motion picture. It starred Ariana Grande as Galinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, who later becomes known as the Wicked Witch. The film has been nominated for and won a number of major awards.
While the sequel to the film is set to hit theaters this fall, those who want to see how the story concludes do not have to wait that long. The Wicked musical theater experience includes both halves of the tale combined into one show. In addition to seeing Glinda and Elphaba’s origins, audiences will also get glimpses into other familiar Wizard of Oz staples, including the Wizard himself and the Emerald City.
Musical theater events like these may choose to use banner printing for marquee advertising or brochure printing for audience programs.
Wicked is coming to the ASU Gammage in Tempe for shows beginning on Tuesday, March 4. The musical runs Tuesdays through Sundays — including matinee shows on the weekends — for the remainder of March thereafter. Tickets can be purchased online.
