The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is hosting a performance by the Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra this fall.
With the theme of “Roots and Rhythm,” the concert kicks off the season for the orchestra with a selection of high-energy, up-tempo musical works with a central focus on being rhythm-driven while also being traditional staples.
The opening number of the concert is still under wraps, serving as a surprise for audiences to experience on the night of the event. However, the violin piece that follows is brought to life by an award-winning musician.
The globally recognized violinist Sicong Chen spearheads a rendition of Edgar Meyer’s Violin Concerto, a work that blends classical sensibilities with more modern Americana and jazz elements.
Chen has garnered a number of awards over the years through his work as both a solo artist and orchestral violinist. The Beijing-born artist has won prizes in competitions spanning from the Hong Kong International Violin Competition to the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Dvořák’s Symphony no. 8 will serve as the climax for the Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra’s show, featuring melodies inspired by nature itself, in a nod to the fall season.
