Scottsdale’s Center For The Performing Arts is hosting a live performance of Fraggle Rock this fall.
From the creative mind of Jim Henson, who invented the term Muppet as a combination of marionette and puppet, Fraggle Rock was a TV series that ran from 1983-87.
The series is one of many Henson-helmed projects featuring the Muppets, with other examples including the Muppet Show, countless movies, and Sesame Street.
However, what makes Fraggle Rock unique is its almost fantasy-like quality, as the creatures live in a subterranean world, whereas both of the previously mentioned examples place more emphasis on putting the Muppets into our modern world, such as New York City or inside a theater.
In the first live show adaptation of the series, the Fraggles are going “Back to the Rock” with special stage effects, new characters from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop and classic songs.
The plot of the stage show centers on the Fraggles seeking the shattered pieces of the legendary Celebration Stone, an ancient artifact that, when collected, has the power to unite everyone and kick off a giant party.
Muppet shows like this may choose to use printing services to create audience programs, marquees and vendor Signs.
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Live is happening on November 28 at 4 pm at the Virginia G. Piper Theater of the Center For The Performing Arts at 7380 E 2nd St in Scottsdale.
