Queen Creek is hosting its 2nd annual Juneteenth celebration this year.
The celebration will include a DJ, dance performances, games, raffles, a silent auction, food, drinks and additional entertainment. Since the event will be held on Father’s Day, it will include a special dedication to Black fathers. The Juneteenth celebration is free to attend and appropriate for all ages. While it has traditionally been an African American holiday, all members of the Queen Creek community are invited to participate.
Local businesses interested in participating further are encouraged to become vendors. This includes food trucks, local retailers, and community organizations that want to set up information booths. The vendor fee is $125. The application and additional details are available on the Queen Creek Juneteenth website. Vendors often work with Print shops to design Signs for their booths at this type of event.
Last year’s celebration drew more than 300 attendees, and the event organizers expect a larger turnout this year. The Celebration Committee, led by the event founder Laura Craft, is also pleased to have arranged an indoor location this year. After Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, Craft felt inspired to bring the celebration to Queen Creek.
Queen Creek’s Juneteenth celebration will take place on Sunday, June 18, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Barney Sports Complex.
