Queen Creek organization to host archaeology expo

The Arizona Archaeological Society’s San Tan Chapter is hosting a mini expo in Queen Creek in a few weeks.

The theme of the archeology mini expo is “Studying the Past in the Present to See the Future.” Attendees will be able to participate in hands-on activities to learn about a range of topics related to archaeology, all supported by local volunteers and organizations. These include discussions on how to explore nature in the present and demonstrations of ancient skills. Planned exhibits include lessons on making adobe bricks and air-dry pottery, rock carving, and safe desert hiking. Attendees can also learn to shape flint, carve shells, and use friction to start a fire. The Pinal County Historical Museum will present on local history, and an expert will host a display on the history of cotton.

The Arizona Archaeological Society is a non-profit organization that hosts educational events and programs for both its members and the public. Organizations often use brochure printing services to share information about their programs at public events. The mini expo is free to attend and does not require attendees to sign up in advance. Free onsite parking will be available.

The mini expo will take place on Saturday, April 1, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the San Tan Historical Society Museum in Queen Creek.
