Phoenix’s Crescent Ballroom will host Off Book - The Improvised Musical with two up-and-coming names in the world of comedy next month.
The performance features two comedians, Jessica McKenna and Zach Reino, who created the musical with the idea that it would be completely improvised on the night of its performance to challenge conventional ideas of what a musical can be.
McKenna and Reino were the composers for the series Baking It, starring Saturday Night Live alums Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler on the streaming service Peacock. Rick and Morty, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, FunnyOrDie, Nickelodeon, Buzzfeed, and the Fox sketch show Party Over Here, produced by The Lonely Island, are just a few of the other television and internet programs for which the pair has provided their musical talents in the form of melodic comedy sketches and other tunes.
In addition to creating and starring in the ABC digital series Serious Music, they also have a number of other projects in the works through the production companies of comedy legends like David Wain, Amy Poehler, and Elizabeth Banks.

Off Book - The Improvised Musical is happening on October 3 at 8 p.m. at the Crescent Ballroom at 308 N 2nd Ave. in Phoenix. Tickets are available online.
