Devo is coming to Phoenix’s The Van Buren this April, bringing their unique sound and aesthetics to the venue.
As part of the band’s Mutate Don’t Stagnate tour, the show represents Devo’s continuing live performance comeback after an eight-year tour hiatus ended in 2022.
Best known for their 1980 hit “Whip It,” Devo has continued to make music ever since, and though no song has made it as high on the Billboard charts as their debut, they remain an influential name in the new wave and synth pop scene.
With 11 studio albums under its name, including 1978’s debut, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO!, the band was prolific throughout the 1980s and has continued producing ever since. Performing live, the band is known for its surreal visual effects, high-tempo delivery, and putting a new spin on classic hits.
Kent University art majors Gerald Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh formed the genesis of Devo in the 1970s, bringing along mutual acquaintance Bob Lewis to join the band along the way — at first as a fellow musician and later as its manager.
Concerts like this may choose to use banner printing to create Signs for vendors, venues, and stage props.
