Neil Hamburger is coming to Phoenix’s Valley Bar this January.
Embodying the epitome of lounge-style comedy, Neil Hamburger is almost always decked out in a tuxedo, sporting a corny comb-over, and holding multiple drinks while juggling a microphone as part of his stand-up act, seen around the world.
Active since 1999, one of Neil Hamburger’s comedy albums was named as one of SPIN’s 40 Greatest Comedy Albums Of All Time. He has worked with the likes of Jack White, Tom Green and even shared the stage with Robin Williams and Tenacious D, among others.
One of the comedian’s most high-profile collaborations is with Tim and Eric Awesome Show, with co-creator Tim Heidecker working with Neil Hamburger on multiple films and TV projects. In 2015, the film Entertainment, co-written by Heidecker and starring Hamburger, was released to critical acclaim.
Of course, Hamburger is just a stage persona, somewhat akin to the performance art creations of comedian Andy Kaufman. The brainchild behind this unique comedy act is actor Gregg Turkington, who has become a star in his own right with an appearance as a Baskin-Robbins manager in the Marvel movie Ant-Man.
