Flavorsome fun scheduled for Chandler

Chandler will celebrate an Asian delicacy with an event next month.

The Arizona Bao and Dumpling Festival will be held in the Dr. A.J. Chandler Park, where visitors can sample a variety of dumplings and baos that range from traditional recipes to a chef's individual creation. A bao is a yeast-leavened bun that is then filled and steamed, and is a staple in many cuisines, particularly Chinese and Vietnamese.

Most vendors plan to offer at least one dumpling or bao for $5 or less, so everyone can enjoy a new taste treat. Desserts, boba, and additional Asian foods will be available, and local artists will be part of a curated marketplace. The event is free for children age six and under.

Tickets are required for entry, but only cover admission, as the vendors will be selling food and drink directly. Most will accept cards, but it is more convenient for them if customers have cash available.

Event organizers state vendors will be sanitizing their booths, and a professional cleaning company will sanitize the chairs and tables. Face masks must be worn at all times, except when eating, and in order to facilitate social distancing, admission times will be staggered.

The bao bash is set for September 19, from 12:30 pm until 5:00 pm. People with early admission tickets will be allowed to enter at 11.00 am. Banner printing can provide signage for outdoor events like this.
